With the renowned project stimmhorn, the singer zehnder created (with the horn and alphorn player Balthasar Streiff) New Music in a spirit of folklore and at the same time, contemporary sound which challenged established, handed-down traditions. The musical zany & Dada poet continues to perform with his inimitable vocal style, going beyond the usual, developing phenomenological overtone singing to a personal art form. Whether yodeller or countertenor, the poet of sound constantly captivates his audience with his songs without words and his unique, sometimes mad language and sound cosmoswithout denying the roots of his alpine homeland.

After an intensive discourse involved with new, experimental alpine music, popple music is a further attempt to break down well-worn borders between musical styles as well as to go beyond personal limitations. Venturing forward from archaic pureness of sound to the bits and bytes of the new millenium zehnder has now produced a CD with the musician, sound designer and producer kold. The latter has made a name for himself in the past few years with various sound-tracks, installations and performances. With this production, he returns to his original passion: pop music.
The joint project of the vocal virtuoso zehnder and the sound artist kold does not allow itself to be classified in a simple manner in already existing genres. Tremendously complicated in structure are their unusual compositions: what they have created is truly unconventional pop music for sympathetic listeners and re-discoverers of pop. The emotional energy of the individual compositions is produced by a sure sense of unity, which the two musicians have developed over a one year production period.

The popple live performance
Two tectonic sound specialists on the shores of the great sea of pop culture: in their own special way, zehnder & kold perform their music live on-stage. Using light sensors and propeller constructions, movement dispatchers and body expressiveness, they relate, without the using words, the universal human Odyssey. The performances of zehnder have always had something very unusual about them. Linked up with kold, he transforms himself on stage, in a very humorous way, into an electronic pop shaman who shifts back and forth from being both a captor of basic forces as well as a designer of new worlds to come.

Faszinierend.»
